In this step-by-step guide you will learn how to create a NEM account using a mobile app and how to export it to the desktop client.

The NEM mobile wallet is an easy to use app that enables you to manage multiple NEM accounts on your phone as well as send and receive XEM/messages. Using QR codes, it is even faster and easier than the desktop client.

You can download the NEM wallet on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. In this example, we’ll use the android wallet.

PART 1 | Creating a NEM account using the mobile app
Step 1

  • Launch the wallet app.
  • Read the warning carefully.
  • Tick the checkbox to acknowledge.
  • Tap ‘OK’ to continue.

Step 2

  • Set a strong password for the app.

Step 3

  • Tap ‘Add Account’.
  • Tap ‘Create’ to create a new wallet.
  • Give your wallet a name then tap ‘Create’ to continue.

  • It is standard practice to backup the Private Key of the newly created wallet.
  • Tap ‘OK’ to continue.

Step 4

  • Tick the checkbox to use the application password.
  • Tap ‘OK’ to reveal account information.

Even if you have your wallet file, it is MANDATORY to backup your account’s Private Key.

If you lose your Private Key, it’s GONE FOREVER. NEM Foundation cannot recover your Private Key for you.

REMEMBER: Never share your Private Key with anyone. Your account’s security is your responsibility.

Step 5

  • Tap ‘Show Private Key’.
  • Read the warning carefully.
  • Tap ‘I understand’ to proceed.

It is recommended that you write down your Private Key on a piece of paper before proceeding.

Step 6

  • Copy and paste the Private Key displayed on your Mobile Wallet app to a text editor and save it in a secure and offline location.

Step 12

  • Read the warning carefully.

Step 13

  • Click ‘Download wallet’ and save it in a secure location. It is recommended that you store the wallet in an offline location.
